SAN DIEGO, April 6, 2023<\/b><\/span> – San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister reminded property owners today that they have twelve days left to pay the second installment of their 2022-2023 property taxes before they are charged a late penalty.<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Taxpayers can quickly and easily pay their bills online at\u202fsdttc.com<\/a>. They will not be charged a convenience fee if they pay by\u202fe<\/i>-check, or electronic check.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

\u201cSo far, 47.90% of taxpayers have paid $1.9 billion in second installment payments,\u201d said McAllister.\u202f \u201cProperty tax bills are due on April 10. To avoid a 10% penalty plus $10 fee we encourage property owners to go online and pay their second installment before the deadline.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOnline payments will be accepted until midnight on April 10. The easiest, quickest, and most secure way to pay is online at\u00a0sdttc.com<\/a>. Taxpayers should log on early and give themselves plenty of time to complete a payment before the automatic midnight cutoff,\u201d said McAllister. \u201cWe also accept payments at our branch drop boxes, as well as cash payments at the inside counter of the downtown branch.\u201d\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Mailed payments must be postmarked by April 10 to be considered on time. If your lender is supposed to pay your property tax bill, please note that lenders generally submit payments just before the delinquent date. Please contact them to confirm that they have scheduled the payment.\u202fPayments can also be made by phone at 855-829-3773.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

In September 2022, the Tax Collector sent out over a million tax bills, which are expected to generate $8.06 billion for the County of San Diego. Property taxes fund schools, libraries and other services provided by local cities and the county.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning in late April, the downtown branch payment counter is scheduled to be temporarily closed for renovations. Payments will continue to be accepted at the other branch locations until the downtown counter reopens in fall 2023.
