Newsom and separately received significantly more in state payments \u2013 corporations gave $691,615 in campaign donations and received $1.9 billion in state payments. That\u2019s a very nice return on investment \u2013 a $10.6 million investment for a $6.3 billion return.<\/p>\n<p>Another report revealed that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openthebooks.com\/\">Open the Books<\/a>\u00a0had to sue and then had to file 442 California Public Record Act requests \u2013 one with each state agency \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/californiaglobe.com\/articles\/open-the-books-exposes-california-spending-gov-newsoms-donor-base\/\">in order to obtain California\u2019s\u00a0line-by-line spending by state agencies,<\/a>\u00a0because California\u2019s Controller, Betty Yee, rejected their sunshine request for state spending, claiming she \u201ccouldn\u2019t locate\u201d any of the nearly 50 million bills she paid in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/californiaglobe.com\/articles\/californias-first-lady-produces-gender-justice-films-sells-to-state-public-schools\/\">\u00a0recent report in January<\/a>\u00a0found\u00a0California\u2019s First Lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom produces \u2018Gender Justice\u2019 films, and then sells them to the state\u2019s public schools:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJennifer Siebel Newsom solicited state vendors and the governor\u2019s campaign donors for large gifts to her charity,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/therepproject.org\/\">The Representation Project<\/a>,\u201d the Globe reported.<\/p>\n<p>Siebel Newsom, through her non-profit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/therepproject.org\/\">The Representation Project<\/a>, has released four films advocating gender justice. The films are leased for screenings to individuals, corporations, and schools, and come with their own lesson plans.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/openthebooks.substack.com\/p\/newsom-inc\">Open the Books notes<\/a>\u00a0that Siebel Newsom\u2019s own companion curriculum allows that kids may need to see a school counselor after being subjected to some of the activities about social privilege, gender, etc.\u2014and that they should be on hand. Aside from COVID lockdowns, this is another perverse layer to creating a problem and then \u201csolving\u201d it with funding for more school counselors!<\/p>\n<p>Even more counterintuitively, Siebel Newsom has recognized that her films and curricula can trigger youth mental health interventions. In fact, the curricula provided for her movie\u00a0<em>The Mask You Live In<\/em>\u00a0warns teachers that the related lessons may lead children to seek the help of mental health providers and that therapists should be on-hand during curriculum activities.<\/p>\n<p>Parents have complained about the pornographic content in Newsom\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/161217959\/0286eb727f\">films shown to 11-year-olds<\/a>\u00a0(such as an animated, upside-down stripper with tape over breasts) and 15-year-olds (nearly naked women being slapped, handcuffed, and brutalized in images taken from porn sites) \u2014 to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.openthebooks.com\/assets\/1\/6\/1.19_Pornographic_material_from_The_Mask_You_Live_In.pdf\">view images, viewer discretion is advised<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Editorials have criticized\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/columnists\/ethical-imbroglios-abound-for-california-governor-newsom\">the activities<\/a>\u00a0in Newsom\u2019s film\u00a0<em>The Great American Lie<\/em>\u00a0as \u201cemotionally abusive.\u201d The activities ask students to publicly reveal personal information and force commentary on their relative \u201cprivilege\u201d and \u201coppression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just a little conflict of interest?<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/inbox\/post\/101652171\">Open the Books<\/a>\u00a0dropped another chapter in the Newsom\u2019s saga of political grift. This one exposes a\u00a0\u201clegalized\u201d pay-to-play scheme in California: \u201cthe Newsom\u2019s create problems, then \u2018solve\u2019 them, and cash checks along the way,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/inbox\/post\/101652171\">according<\/a>\u00a0to Open the Books.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince inception, Siebel Newsom\u2019s office has received nearly $4.8 million\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/redirect\/7981d2eb-8279-4502-a2e6-734ef958d6d0?j=eyJ1IjoiMnJ1cHcifQ.SS6niVOzI2qi4Gwvm46Uk9lJPumSFlQOgjlMLbIB7Fg\">in directed taxpayer funding<\/a>.\u00a0The\u00a0Office\u00a0of\u00a0First Partner has grown from seven employees with\u00a0a\u00a0budget\u00a0of\u00a0$791,000, to nine employees with\u00a0a\u00a0budget\u00a0of$1,166,000 proposed for 2023-2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here is what Open the Books found:<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2022, Governor Gavin Newsom convinced the state legislature\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2022\/08\/18\/governor-newsom-unveils-new-plan-to-transform-kids-mental-health\/\">to provide $4.7 billion for K-12 mental health services<\/a>, which, among other things, funded 10,000 new school counselors.<\/p>\n<p>Gavin Newsom convinced the legislature because Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of the governor, convinced him. The biggest advocate for mental health funding within the K-12 California public schools in the Newsom administration was Mrs. Newsom, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/edsource.org\/2022\/how-jennifer-siebel-newsom-became-a-champion-of-youth-mental-health\/681228\">published accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Gavin Newsom created The Office of First Partner so his wife could promote her policy agenda using taxpayer money. Since 2019, Siebel Newsom\u2019s been armed with nearly $5 million and nine staffers within her subdivision of the governor\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>The Representation Project, that licenses \u201cgender justice\u201d films and curricula to 5,000 schools in all 50 states.<\/p>\n<p>The year Gavin Newsom became governor, the California Board of Education adopted guidance that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1GNsVq8CnPrh9e8-Y10iTLdnt9Ef6OBhs\/view\">recommended her films and curriculum be licensed and used\u00a0<\/a>in classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Open the Books\u00a0summarizes the Newsom\u2019s pay-to-play schemes, as well as the devastating results on children, particularly after \u201cGov. Newsom\u2019s\u00a0Covid policies took away nearly every opportunity for kids to interact outside the home:\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newsom\u2019s divisive Covid policies and Jennifer\u2019s films\/curricula arguably fueled the youth mental health problem.
