A few years ago the people of California passed a ballot measure to create \u201cchicken condo\u2019s==large holding areas for chicken that give eggs.\u00a0 We said at the time the cost of eggs will go up.\u00a0 At Stater Bros. grocery store in Simi Valley, a dozen eggs cost $4.99.\u00a0 A year ago I bought a dozen eggs from Trader Joes for $1.49.\u00a0 A couple of days ago at the Kaiser \u2013Permanente facility in Woodland Hills they had a Farmers Market.\u00a0 Eggs were $11 a dozen!<\/p>\n

\u201cWith\u00a0egg prices soaring<\/a>\u00a0in the U.S. over the last year, more Americans are crossing into Mexico to buy the food item and trying to sneak cartons of raw eggs along some areas of the southern border, including California and Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are seeing an increase in people attempting to cross eggs from Juarez to El Paso because they are significantly less expensive in Mexico than the U.S.,\u201d U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman Roger Maier told CBS MoneyWatch. \u201cThis is also occurring with added frequency at other Southwest border locations.\u201d<\/p>\n

You will note that the article does not mention the California law.\u00a0 When Ohio egg ranchers tried to sell their eggs in California, Gov. Brown stopped them.<\/p>\n
