A recent lawsuit has been filed that alleges that Democratic Candidate Blakespear has \u201cimproperly, knowingly, and unlawfully\u201d prevented over 30 people from observing or commenting on information posted to her Facebook and Instagram pages. The civil complaint filed by San Diego County Attorney Carla DiMare cited that in an earlier settlement agreement, Blakespear was already \u201cobliged to cease such prohibited conduct in the future,\u201d and even had to make a formal public apology for having engaged in such action along with a personal payment to the plaintiffs to the amount of $5000. According to plaintiff Robert Nichols, \u201cBlakespear\u2019s been doing this for years. She shouldn\u2019t be allowed to block and delete people from participating in the \u2018Digital Town Square.\u2019 Any elected representative who knowingly and willfully obstructs the public\u2019s right to free speech does not deserve to hold public office.\u201d Another plaintiff, Garvin Walsh, stated that Blakespear\u2019s conduct was \u201cdishonorable\u201d and she was acting as if abiding by the Constitution did not apply to her.\u00a0 Blakespear positions herself as a victim, stating the \u201ccomplainants threatened to sue me if they did not receive a public apology.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
