California is now the 22nd state to leave the National School Boards Association. However, in California\u2019s case the reasoning is different then most of the others. A majority of those states severed ties over radical policies. But for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/californiapolicycenter.org\/divorce-california-style-following-parents-are-terrorists-campaign-cal-school-boards-group-says-its-going-directly-to-washington-dc\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California, it was because the National School Boards Association\u2019s agenda was not radical enough<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NSBA came under fire months ago after it was revealed that they attempted to persuade the Biden administration and Attorney General Merrick Garland to send federal law enforcement to local school board meetings. Many of these local meetings around the country had become increasingly contentious after parents groups protested COVID policies and progressive education standards. NSBA had labeled parents who were against such policies as \u201cdomestic terrorists\u201d. Since then 30 chapters have distanced themselves from the NSBA citing that they did not consult or inform them about their request to the federal government. California was on the other side of most of the states and was supportive of the overall efforts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CEO of the California School Boards Association Vernon Billy<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.csba.org\/-\/media\/CSBA\/Files\/Home\/CSBA-Letter-to-Gov-9-29-2021.ashx?la=en&amp;rev=94f346ac13d14a7ab1d14b1e8dee549d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sent a letter to Governor Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In his letter obtained by Parents Defending Education and first reported by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/californiapolicycenter.org\/sacramentos-surprise-reaction-to-the-california-school-boards-association-letter\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">California Policy Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Billy said that Newsom and Bonta should, \u201cconvince, command, or otherwise urge local law enforcement to uphold public health and safety orders, help maintain order at local school board meetings when requested, and enforce the law as they are sworn to do.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/link.csba.org\/m\/1\/85483239\/02-b22089-d561f63401534cd9a794e8777b1a2bc1\/3\/594\/30580379-6709-495f-bbff-f0cc66a70215\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In their official statement,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the CSBA said, \u201cCSBA\u2019s inequitable representation in NSBA\u2019s governance structure and the organization\u2019s lack of support for policy issues of importance to California.\u201d CSBA is angered that the NSBA is not supportive of the CSBA agenda. When the NSBA letter to the federal government was first reported, the backlash was extremely severe.
