Brian Dahle<\/a>, a Republican member of the California State Senate, announced his campaign for governor against Democratic incumbent Gavin Newsom. Representing a rural area of north-east California, Dahle is aware that he is not nearly as popular as Newsom throughout the state and has called this a \u201cDavid versus Goliath\u201d type battle. <\/span><\/p>\nThe number of Democratic to Republican voters heavily favors Newson in the state as nearly half of registered voters are Democrats where under a quarter are registered Republicans. Although Newsom had just months ago avoided a recall with ease, Sen. Dahle believes that uncontrolled homelessness, rising violent crime rates, and the outrageous cost of living is enough to convince voters throughout the state to get Newsom removed from office. He referred to the current governor as a \u201cdictator\u201d and stated that four more years of him in office could continue to cost Californians. In the state\u2019s capital, Dahle criticized the single-party Democratic rule that California has seen for so many years stating that \u201cit always leads to corruption and government dysfunction\u201d. A spokesperson for the Newsom administration commented on Dahle\u2019s campaign announcement saying that \u201cpro-Trump Republicans will try to stop the progress the governor is making\u2026just like last year\u201d, referring to the recall election. \u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\nDahle\u2019s campaign funding appears to be microscopic compared to Gov. Newsom\u2019s multimillion dollar account but all he is asking for is $1 a day from his supporters to help grow his cause. As the only Republican slated to challenge Newsom so far, Sen.
