But some, particularly in the Bay Area, have another method of procuring desired items through stealing. San Francisco has embraced the backward decriminalization of petty theft for specific dollar amounts.

Therefore, California has seen $40,000 in stolen goods from a Lululemon in San Jose, smashed windows at a Louis Vuitton in Beverley Hills, and cannabis shops looted in broad daylight. The biggest story in retail theft came only a day ago when a massive group of organized looters robbed a Nordstrom in Walnut Creek and Louis Vuitton in San Francisco last Friday.

Governor Gavin Newsom announced that he is increasing law enforcement presence near highly trafficked shopping areas. Wait a minute, I thought the police were systemically racist and ought to be defunded, so why is he increasing the scope of local law enforcement? It’s because the Democrats love to blame “the system” for their failures until they can use it to their advantage. We saw this when in 2020, rioters burned down significant cities because of “systemic racist cops” while complaining there weren’t enough police during January 6. Newsom himself has been a victim of retail theft, as his wine shop in San Francisco has been broken into three times in the past year.

But wait, there’s more. Newsom also explained that local governments have to pay their fair share. “Mayors have to step up. Gotta be assertive, gotta be tough.” Again, the hypocrisy is on full display. Democrats vie for more centralized power, except when taking on increased responsibilities makes them look bad.

All this madness would go away if California just enforced the law and arrested petty theft criminals and would eliminate bad laws such as Prop 47. If the Left can’t administer the law to protect property rights, at least do it for your sake. When the midterms roll around and Republicans take a hardline approach to crime, Democrats will get shellacked in the polls.

Photo Cred: Andrew Kuhn/ Merced Sun-Star

Written by Nathaniel Mannor With the holidays approaching fast, more and more people rush to retail stores to purchase Thanksgiving ingredients and Christmas gifts.
