Many Democrats are infighting amongst their party for positions in Biden\u2019s new tax cuts and spending package. The package is not likely to satisfy every congressional Democrat, making Biden\u2019s chances of accomplishing his radical agenda unlikely.
Democrat lawmakers are not on the same page. Their demands are sporadic and vary in a wide range of appropriation. Put simply, Democrats are insisting on spending money on different issues instead of focusing on one. For example, Rep. Alma Adams (D-NC) has demanded that historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) should get more subsidies than the $2 billion already budgeted. Rep.
Meanwhile, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has stated she will not vote for the $1.2 trillion \u2018bipartisan\u2019 infrastructure bill until House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-NY) passes the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill. Furthermore, Reps. Chuy Garcia (D-IL) and Lou Correa (D-CA) asserted they would block the reconciliation bill until it provides amnesty for millions of illegal migrants. But amnesty was blocked by Senate parliamentarian Sunday.
This list of grievances has divided many Democrats due to so many of them grasping for power. The House Democrats are not as united as they originally portrayed at the beginning of the year after the past few weeks. Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) voiced his concerns, saying that Democrat leadership is perplexed over the complicated congressional procedures it will take to pass Biden\u2019s massive agenda. Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) told Politico, that he wishes that Democrats could unite and focus their attention on just one issue, instead of the perplexing array of components that Biden wants to carry out.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) told Politico \u201cI am very tired of it… I don\u2019t think they are making their decisions based on the needs of the American people or even the people in their own state.\u201d He added that they seem more motivated by \u201ccorporate interest.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
