It comes to no surprise that Gov. Gavin Newsom has been hypocritical since he has been in office, which has been especially seen during the entirety of the global pandemic of COVID-19. However, another instance comes under fire, literally.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On his very first full day as Governor, back in 2019, Newsom went in front of the cameras, with emergency responders standing behind him, and declared a war on wildfires. Yet there is little evidence of his alleged efforts to prevent wildfires, especially in the year in which wildfires are supposed to be at their worst.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In fact, an investigation by CapRadio and NPR\u2019s California Newsroom has found that Newsom misrepresented his accomplishments and disinvested in prevention against wildfires. For example, when speaking on the number of acres that need to be prioritized and protected, Newsom exaggerated the number of acres by 690%. Not only that, but he also claimed that 35 of his \u201cpriority projects\u201d have resulted in fire prevention work on over 90,000 acres, but Californian data shows the real number is only 11,399.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n So not only is Gov. Newsom a hypocrite but he is also a liar. He is coming up with fake numbers in order to make him seem successful when he has actually done nothing but tear apart our Golden State. Although, we are not surprised.<\/span><\/p>\n With California facing a serious drought this year, this could be an even bigger issue not only for Newsom but for those who live in vulnerable regions as well as regions that lack water in the first place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a deception,\u201d said Mitch Mackenzie, who lost his home in the 2017 Tubbs Fire. \u201cWith all the fire danger that we have experienced year, after year, after year … you would think it would be a higher priority to make sure that all of this area is treated as much as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Written by Amanda Angulo It comes to no surprise that Gov.
