Newsom\u2019s flimsy <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2021\/03\/newsom-and-lawmakers-reach-deal-for-school-reopening-republicans-say-its-not-good-enough\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">deal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for school reopening, multiple California school districts have proposed using the state and federal relief funding to give out bonuses to teachers and staff members, some of which have not stepped foot on campus since the start of the pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cReopen California Schools,\u201d a Facebook group started early in the pandemic, released multiple internal memos from numerous California school districts, exposing their selfishness regarding the use of federal aid money.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clovis Unified School District in Fresno County allegedly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ReopenCASchools\/status\/1371151957809786882\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">discussed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using the funding for one-time teacher bonuses as high as $6,000 per employee.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Dublin Teachers Association, a union for the Dublin Unified School District in the Bay Area, went as far as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ReopenCASchools\/status\/1371105242310307845\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">proposing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> one-time $2,500 bonuses to teachers as well as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;an airplane trip to Hawaii&#8221; once the pandemic is over.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">San Juan Unified also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ReopenCASchools\/status\/1371129469302272002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1371129469302272002%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fus%2Fcalifornia-schools-using-covid-relief-money-for-teacher-bonuses-encouraging-trips-to-hawaii-memos-show\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">suggested<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a one-time, off-schedule 1% bonus for teachers (based on their 2020-2021 salaries) \u2013 on top of a $500 stipend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For just about every student and parent facing the hardships of remote learning, this information serves as a massive wake-up call on the level of trust that should be put into the teacher&#8217;s unions and school boards.
