Among the charges being made in the recall petition will be that Bell-Fontenot has irreparably hurt children by keeping schools closed, has callously disregarded parental input, and has created a hostile work environment with her recent offensive comments at a board meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On February 23, the District Board met virtually using zoom video. When the issue of reopening schools came up, Bell-Fontenot became agitated, attacked fellow board members and staff, and declared that asking teachers to return to work in classrooms \u201cseems like a very white supremacist ideology to force people to comply with\u2026you know\u2026to conform\u2026just letting you know\u2026I don\u2019t want to be part of forcing anybody to do anything they don\u2019t want to do &#8211; that\u2019s what slavery is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The video with these offensive remarks is posted online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.schoolboardrecall.org\/\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.SchoolBoardRecall.org&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1614972007428000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHQTCZQsdhsdmxBTmAmkbcgU1OTnw\">www.SchoolBoardRecall.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The recall is being launched with the backing of Reform California &#8211; the same organization that backed that last successful recall of a state office holder in California and is also currently backing the Recall of Gov. Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHY: <\/strong>\u201cWhen school board members won\u2019t follow the science and won\u2019t listen to the cries from parents and children who want to go back to school, it is time to rise up and start recalling those same negligent school board members from office.<\/p>\n<p>Charda Bell-Fontenot not only voted to continue to inflict harm on our children by keeping La-Mesa Spring Valley Schools closed, but her use of false, reckless and racially-divisive smears to attack those that support school reopening has created a hostile work environment.
