Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, who just launched an exploratory committee for a campaign for governor, has endorsed a statewide petition for the governor\u2019s recall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>petition<\/span><\/a> states that Newsom \u201chas failed Californians,\u201d citing unaffordable housing, record homelessness, rising crime, failing schools, exploding pension debt and a locked-down population while prisons are emptied.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, according to the petition website, 911,000 Californians have been signed. By its deadline in mid-march, the petition will need 1,495,709 signatures from registered voters. This means the campaign is more than half-way there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Faulconer said in a Saturday <\/span>tweet<\/span><\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s a new year. We need a new governor. Jobs are leaving, homelessness is skyrocketing, and the state can\u2019t even issue unemployment checks to people struggling right now to get by.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Faulconer stressed the need for new leadership on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we look at what hasn\u2019t been happening from the governor\u2019s office, the conflicting rules and regulation in terms of COVID, the hypocrisy, all of the other issues that have also been ignored here in California in terms of homelessness skyrocketing, our schools still aren\u2019t open, this is frustration across the board,\u201d Faulconer said on <\/span>Fox<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
