The Republican Party of San Diego County endorsed candidate John Minto won reelection to the position of Mayor of Santee. With the help of the party, Minto beat his opponent Stephen Houlahan by around 2,000 votes.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Minto has lived in Santee with his wife since 1992 and he has dedicated his life to public service. At 22 years old he joined the police force where he served for 29 years, and he spent six years on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Police Officer\u2019s Association. He has also served on the Santee City Council since 2002.<\/span><\/p>\n

His record over the last four years speaks volumes about his dedication to the city of Santee. Mayor Minto has brought many jobs and SportsPlex USA to Santee. He has also established the HWY 52 Coalition and banned panhandling. He is the only mayor in San Diego County to stand for Second Amendment rights by sending a letter to the sheriff’s office supporting concealed carry permits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving into the next four years, Minto aims to continue to have a fiscally responsible and efficient government and to bring more jobs to Santee to help the city bounce back from the financial hardship brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, he wants to reduce congestion by widening HWY 52, encourage the city\u2019s transition to solar power, and expand public safety funding. Mayor Minto\u2019s dedication and experience have aided him greatly in navigating these unprecedented times. As an avid supporter of small businesses, Minto aims to\u00a0<\/span>\u201chelp businesses stay viable in the wake of COVID-19\u201d <\/span>while keeping the Santee residents safe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Minto is a staunch supporter of police officers and eager to aid them in their efforts to reduce crime in Santee. His experience and dedication have earned him the support of Santee Firefighters and Police. Mayor Minto has earned the respect of many Santee residents for his honesty and hard work and has made a huge impact in the city of Santee over his last four years. He is eager to continue leading the city in the right direction for the next 4 years.<\/span><\/p>\n
