Throughout this upcoming week, especially from Thursday night into Friday morning, San Diego County will experience some very strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity, according to the National Weather Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The winds are expected to range from 15-25 mph throughout the county but may reach 30 to 40 miles per hour in the inland valleys and foothills and up to\u00a050 miles per hour in the mountains.<\/p>\n

Further increasing fire risk, humidity levels are predicted to drop drastically on Thursday and remain around just 15% through Friday and Saturday. Typically, when Santa Ana winds occur, there is warm weather; however, over this Thanksgiving, San Diego County will experience temperatures in the mid-60s and as the weekend approaches, the temperatures will rise.<\/p>\n

A fire weather watch will be in effect from Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon in mountains and inland valleys.<\/p>\n

After seeing the devastating effects wildfires had on California this year, it is important we all do our part to mitigate the risk of another. Make sure to follow fire warning guidance by not starting any campfires, burning trash, using equipment like lawnmowers and chainsaws, and keep an eye out for smoke! If you use a grill, make sure to have a water source nearby and do not dispose of ashes until they are fully extinguished. If you start or see signs of a fire, call 911 immediately.<\/p>\n
