Since completing college, Brian&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/brianepperson\/\">resume<\/a>\u00a0has stacked up to be nothing short of impressive.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He has been the CEO of Target River, a local marketing company that serves retail and non-profits, for almost five years. He was Vice President of DME Delivers for over two years before moving on to become Senior Account Executive for Major Accounts at Aspen Marketing Company. He spent the next seven years as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at SDAC. From 2014 to 2016, Brian was Senior Account Executive and then Vice President of Integrated Marketing for Sandy Alexander printing business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian is a resident of the Rancho Tesoro community in San Marcos, and also owns a small business there with his wife and seven children. &#8220;Through my profession, I stay active in the business community with membership and involvement in six Chambers of Commerce,&#8221; said Epperson. &#8220;I am also the creator of The Great American Buy Local Day, a movement to support the nearly 31 million small businesses in our country.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His involvement in education includes serving on an elementary school site council, a high school site council, a District Advisory Council, two District Career and Technical Education Advisory Councils, the San Marcos and Carlsbad Chambers\u2019 of Commerce Education Committees, and serving as Former Board Committee Chair at MAAC Community Charter School. Brian has supported many school districts through staff recruitment and retention, revenue stabilization, increasing daily attendance, improving enrollment, and increasing community engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Epperson has been active in community service through supporting many local organizations, including The San Marcos Promise, MAAC, East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC), Support The Enlisted Project (STEP), and various Boys &amp; Girls Clubs. He actively serves as a member of the Education Committee for the San Marcos Chamber. One organization he has supported, SOLE Effects, is focused on middle and high school level students, improving their confidence as leaders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian is running for this position to help provide a safe environment for students, teachers, and families. &#8220;There are over 21,000 unique stories represented by the students of SMUSD,&#8221; Epperson added. &#8220;And I am running to support every one of those.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He believes the board needs members with skills in technology use, social and emotional support, the ability to change schools to better prepare students for their future, and make better decisions regarding enrollment. An important issue Brian believes he can be resourceful in is revenue streams.
