For the past few weeks, San Diego County has maintained its position in the red tier, but as people begin to get out of the house, the case rate is rising.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4398 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers-300x246.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"687\" height=\"563\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers-300x246.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers-414x340.jpg 414w, https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers-150x123.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers-768x631.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/COVID-tiers.jpg 919w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<pre style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">From <a href=\"https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/safer-economy\/\">https:\/\/covid19.ca.gov\/safer-economy\/<\/a><\/span><\/pre>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The latest data show that San Diego County\u2019s adjusted case rate is higher than the 7 per 100,000 people set forth in the purple tier. What this means is that if San Diego\u2019s case rate remains higher than 7 per 100,000 people for two consecutive weeks, the county will have to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs8.com\/article\/news\/health\/coronavirus\/sd-businesses-shutdown-covid\/509-97ac136d-0e87-4093-bf20-ec5e25b0bde9?utm_source=Voice+of+San+Diego+Master+List&amp;utm_campaign=684c596fa3-Morning_Report&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_term=0_c2357fd0a3-684c596fa3-84203401&amp;goal=0_c2357fd0a3-684c596fa3-84203401\">revert back<\/a> to the purple tier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The consequences of moving back a tier are significant. Retail shops and malls will have their capacity reduced to 25% and all food courts will be ordered closed. Further, gyms, restaurants, movie theaters, places of worship, and personal care services will be forced to move their operations outdoors. On top of all that, schools will be required to stay closed and so will almost all &#8220;non-essential&#8221; businesses\u2014at least for indoor operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only will these restrictions hurt our quality of life for the foreseeable future, but they will also stifle the economy at a time when unemployment is through the roof. This is not what we need right now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One state that I feel is especially beneficial to look to is Florida. Gov. Ron DeSantis is moving full steam ahead in removing these kinds of restrictions and ending the lockdowns. As of a month ago, he removed all COVID-related restrictions in an effort to help the state get back on its feet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Every business has the right to operate,&#8221; DeSantis said, &#8220;Some of the locals can do reasonable regulations. But you can&#8217;t just say no.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Florida is allowing its citizens to return to normalcy, Gov. Gavin Newsom and the tyrannical State Legislature are forcing counties into shutdowns that will only make it harder for us to recover.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, this will likely be our last two weeks of dining out and enjoying life as much as we can in the red tier.
