He is the incumbent candidate and is seeking another term to represent the Escondido community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/secureservercdn.net\/45.40.146.38\/wbi.d02.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/DSC_5437_1-681x1024.jpg\" width=\"295\" height=\"443\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Morasco is directly responsible for the city\u2019s balanced budget. If re-elected, he will continue supporting the funding of the Escondido Police Department&#8217;s anti-gang operations and drunk driving abatement measures. Mike\u00a0is also a dedicated fiscal conservative\u00a0\u200bwho\u00a0has proven his ability to lead by standing\u200bup\u00a0for\u00a0Escondido taxpayers, even when he was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2020\/07\/escondido-city-councilman-mike-morasco-stands-up-for-escondido-taxpayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2020\/07\/escondido-city-councilman-mike-morasco-stands-up-for-escondido-taxpayers\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1600790774973000&amp;usg=AFQjCNEGS1VDjtYFpwnpDEUQK4nJimpPYA\">standing alone<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In July, a proposed sales tax increase was being voted on that would tie Escondido&#8217;s tax rate\u00a0with the highest in the county. Morasco was the\u00a0sole\u00a0vote against the tax, noting that families and businesses were already struggling enough amid the pandemic and shutdowns. Morasco has shown that he is not afraid to support the people of Escondido, even if he is on his own.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He has been endorsed by numerous figures and organizations, including former\u00a0Congressman Darrell Issa, State Assemblywoman Marie Waldron, County Supervisors Kristin Gaspar and Jim Desmond, former Escondido Mayor Sam Abed, Escondido Police Department Chaplain\u00a0Joe Garcia, former San Diego City Councilman Carl DeMaio, The Mercado Business Association, Lincoln Club of San Diego County, Escondido Police Officers\u2019 Association, Building Industry Association of San Diego County, and many more.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Morasco has already done an excellent job as city councilman, and if re-elected will continue advancing the interests of the Escondido community.
