The two candidates have been very consistent in engaging with voters in their respective districts, showing an eager willingness to understand the challenges facing San Diegans.

The planned special guest was originally congressional candidate Brian Maryott, which will be rescheduled for a future date. Both Burkholder and Maryott have shockingly not been able to receive a response from their opponents regarding a debate. Burkholder has repeatedly reached out to Assemblywoman Tasha Boerner Horvath, who has been completely unresponsive. Meanwhile, Rep. Mike Levin also refuses to engage with Maryott in a conversation about the issues affecting the constituents of the 49th Congressional District.

While that conversation will occur later, Phil Urbina will have an opportunity to connect with more voters, though his campaign has already been a big success in terms of fundraising. Urbina is a longtime Carlsbad resident, community leader, and businessman. He has served as chairman of the board of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and as editor of the Carlsbad Journal. Urbina has also volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club of Carlsbad, La Costa Youth Organization, and Carlsbad Christmas Bureau. He’s an active member of the Carlsbad Hi-Noon Rotary Club and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. In 2015, Urbina was named Carlsbad’s Citizen of the Year.

Please join me tomorrow at 3pm LIVE on Facebook for a virtual town hall.
