The recent $484 billion stimulus bill<\/a> aimed at supporting small businesses and hospitals has received bipartisan support through its passage. Now that it has been released, the\u00a0from elected officials across the nation has been broadly positive, and California State Senator Patricia Bates is certainly no exception.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI thank the President and both parties in Congress for putting aside their differences to pass this much needed legislation,” said Bates. “This aid cannot come soon enough for California\u2019s struggling small businesses and hospitals. The federal government must ensure this aid goes to those who most need it.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Bates has been taking action here in California to support similar measures on the state level. On April 8, Senator Bates delivered a letter to her district\u2019s congressional delegation asking for increased funding for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The PPP helps small businesses keep their workforces employed in light of the current quarantine. Such aid is absolutely essential to preserving our economy through this crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking towards the future, Bates hopes that this pattern of aid will continue for groups that weren\u2019t covered in the most recent stimulus bill.<\/span><\/p>\n

“More federal assistance is needed to help individual Americans and state and local governments that have been hit hard economically,” she added. “I hope our federal leaders will continue to work together to help those in need, and ultimately, to help California be in a position where it can reopen for business safely in the near future.”<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
