In a series of tweets, the former congressman implored the governor to take action to protect California\u2019s businesses.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, I&#39;m calling on Governor Newsom to suspend the $800 minimum tax on companies doing business in California.<\/p>\n<p>Many small businesses may operate at a loss for the first time in years.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Darrell Issa (@DarrellIssa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DarrellIssa\/status\/1249866376467996672?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 14, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This regressive tax is hurting small businesses now more than ever due to the COVID-19 crisis. Business owners are already paying some of the highest tax rates in the country, and this minimum tax is creating a stranglehold on small businesses already struggling to get by.
