This is because the plasma has developed antibodies against the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHospitals are reaching out to us on a daily basis for convalescent plasma,\u201d\u00a0said David Wellis, CEO, San Diego Blood Bank. \u201cIf anyone has recovered from the virus, we are calling on them to join us in helping patients in critical condition fight COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>San Diego Blood Bank has created a form where people can submit their contact information to be qualified for convalescent plasma donation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individuals\u00a0can donate\u00a0convalescent plasma if they have\u00a0a confirmed\u00a0positive laboratory test\u00a0and no symptoms for the last 28 days. People with a subsequent confirmed negative\u00a0test\u00a0can donate\u00a0after\u00a014 days of symptom resolution.\u00a0<strong>People are encouraged to fill out the form even if they have not yet been tested.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To\u00a0submit contact information to be qualified as a convalescent plasma donor, visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegobloodbank.org\/donateplasma\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.sandiegobloodbank.org\/donateplasma&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1586792725504000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHXbNPFz_o6p99oB9yVNzrk9j4pPw\">www.sandiegobloodbank.org\/donateplasma<\/a>.\u00a0Donors will also need to meet routine donor screening criteria.<\/p>\n<p>There are other ways to support San Diego Blood Bank\u00a0during\u00a0this\u00a0important\u00a0time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make an appointment for a future donation (3-4 weeks).
