On Wednesday, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond provided us with another coronavirus update<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span>As of April 1, 734 people in San Diego County have tested positive for the virus. That is out of 10,300 people tested, so just under 10 percent.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Desmond gave a shout out to people working in the county\u2019s Emergency Operations Center (EOC). He thanked them for their very informative and well put together briefings that the Board of Supervisors receives each morning. He praised the \u201cgreat group of people\u201d who work there and all of the vital work they continue to do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Employees at the EOC are responsible for keeping track of many important statistics related to the coronavirus. These include its effect on the homeless and cruise ships as well as how many people have gotten the virus, how many have died, how many have been hospitalized, and so on. They also monitor our supply of equipment, ventilators, masks, and more. They even keep track of how many calls come in to 211. Their responsibilities are vast and extremely important during a time like this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Supervisor Desmond credits the EOC for trying to get ahead of the virus as numbers begin to increase exponentially. \u201cIt’s just remarkable to me how many people are working on this, making this happen to keep us all safe and healthy,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n
