Though the coronavirus is affecting all of us in dramatic ways, it\u2019s especially concerning to San Diego\u2019s senior population. For those 65 and older struggling to deal with the new pandemic threat, County Supervisor Jim Desmond is stepping up to provide aid and assistance in these troubling times.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSenior citizens are the number one growing population in North County and all of San Diego county and we must do what we can to help them in this difficult time,\u201d Desmond explained. He\u2019s focused on supporting North County\u2019s senior citizens who are following county guidelines for self-quarantine. Over 10,000 low income seniors are receiving nutrition assistance throughout the county.<\/span><\/p>\n

San Diego County\u2019s Aging and Independent Services call center is providing additional aid for low-income seniors by connecting them with community resources and food delivery sources. He encouraged all seniors to call 211 for assistance, and implored neighbors, friends, and family to offer any help they can.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overall, Desmond remains calm, but optimistic. \u201cBe safe, be clean, bring your baby wipes,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to get through this. We\u2019re going to get through it together\u2014we all gotta play our part.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
