We\u2019ve already seen some admirable displays of leadership from our elected officials on a local, state, and federal level. They\u2019ve been taking the initiative to reassure the nation that things are under control, while also being transparent about efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n

State Senator Brian Jones is offering advice and comfort to Californians, demonstrating true leadership in this time of crisis. He explained that though the California State Legislature is on recess until April 13, he and his fellow legislators are continuing to work for the people.<\/span><\/p>\n

He released a\u00a0<\/span>video <\/span><\/a>detailing his own advice for this trying time. In it, he emphasized the importance of not hoarding food or supplies, as we will not be having a food shortage since there\u2019s plenty to go around.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also made a few personal remarks about how to spend time during the crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I also want you to remember that\u201a as of today\u201a we are not currently in a quarantine\u201a so you are not entirely locked up in your home!<\/span><\/p>\n

If you are in one of the vulnerable populations<\/a>, please be sure to take all of the precautions necessary for your health and safety.<\/p>\n

However\u201a this could also be a great opportunity to make the most of this time with your family\u201a since many of you are working from home and your kids are home from school. There are so many locations in the great outdoors here in San Diego County\u201a and if you can observe the appropriate social distancing\u201a it\u2019s a great time to let the kids go out and get a little muddy!<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore\u201a you can go out and safely volunteer with the many great nonprofits in our community\u201a while adhering to local rules and safety measures. Do your research and see what opportunities are out there!<\/span><\/p>\n

Many restaurants will be closing for a period of time\u201a but we can still support them by ordering take-out or delivery items.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Lastly, he left us all with a hopeful reminder that we\u2019ll be able to perservere. \u201cLet\u2019s be sure to pray for our neighbors and our leaders. We all need to come together as a community. The United States is better than coronavirus. Together\u201a we will get through this!”<\/span><\/p>\n
