Recently, the California State Senate approved up to $1 billion in funds to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Senate Bills 89, 117, and 86 allowed for the leasing and activation of two hospitals, the acquisition of new health equipment, the purchase of health supplies for schools, and remote participation by elected officials during the pandemic.<\/span><\/p>\n

All three measures achieved bipartisan support in the State Legislature, a welcome sign during this crisis. Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove issues the following statement in response:<\/span><\/p>\n

“With these widespread school closures, it is clear that COVID-19 is impacting the daily lives of families and students and that quick legislative action is warranted. Senate Republicans remain committed to supporting first responders, medical professionals, public health officers, and countless others who are on the front lines helping to take care of vulnerable Californians.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a first step, but Senate Republicans are also committed to addressing the other negative effects of COVID-19 on businesses, employees, and independent contractors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All Californians play a vital role in mitigating this public health emergency. Today’s legislative action is just a small piece of a complicated puzzle and we must remain united in our supportive efforts.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is an unprecedented time for the State Legislature are all of California, so the willingness to act swiftly and appropriate desperately needed funds and facilities will go a long way to getting the COVID-19 outbreak under control.<\/p>\n
