The San Diego Union-Tribune<\/em> recently published some misleading articles regarding the ongoing mayoral race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 9 at 10:39 A.M., they published an article titled \u201c<\/span>Bry remains on pace to pass Sherman for second slot in San Diego mayoral runoff<\/span><\/a>.\u201d In the piece, they discussed how Bry was on track to overtake Scott Sherman and move on to the general election in November.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, just hours later they published an article titled \u201c<\/span>Bry shrinks Sherman\u2019s lead again, but isn\u2019t on pace to take second slot in San Diego mayoral runoff<\/span><\/a>.\u201d The narrative was drastically different than the earlier article and claimed, \u201cIf Bry continues to gain at the same rate, Sherman will win the second slot in the runoff by a small margin.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This type of contradiction, and in the same day, makes voters confused and distrustful of the media\u2014and for good reason.<\/span><\/p>\n

If these articles were op-ed presenting conflicting predictions on how the votes will ultimately tally up, that’d be totally fine. Instead, these are two “news” pieces from the same author is contradicting information.<\/p>\n

As of last night, Bry passed Sherman in the vote count and is now leading by just nine votes. It’s difficult to say how the race will conclude, but it’s clear that the San Diego Union-Tribune is not the source for staying updated on the mayoral race.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
