On Sunday, the California Democratic Convention came to a close, with presidential hopefuls such as Bernie Sanders, Julian Castro, and John Delaney all making public appearances. <\/span><\/p>\n

To begin the convention, the Democratic party\u2019s lead fighter for democratic socialism, Bernie Sanders, made his opening statements. Sanders declared how Donald Trump is \u201dthe worst president in the history of this country.\u201d This was followed by Castro stating how he too cannot wait to get the current commander and chief out of office.<\/span><\/p>\n

After Castro\u2019s words, former Congressman John Delaney decided to run against the grain of socialism, saying that \u201c<\/span>Medicare for all may sound good, but it’s actually not good policy.\u201d This statement stood in direct contrast to the views of most of the other candidates on stage, and the audience voiced their disdain with resounding boos in response.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each of the leading Democratic presidential candidates made an appearance at the convention, with the exception of former Vice President Joe Biden. Instead, Biden opted to travel to Ohio and advocate for LGBTQA+ rights. The other Democratic candidates attempted to take advantage of Biden’s absence, signaling their commitment to the woke progressive ideals of the Democratic Party base.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There is also speculation that Biden is limiting his interaction with the media and public in hopes of avoiding the same verbal blunders he has made repeatedly in the past. Recent polling indicates that whenever Biden makes a public appearance, his polling numbers subsequently fall.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to Biden seemingly doing better when he’s not in the public eye, it’s likely that this has become a key part of his campaign strategy. He appears content to sit back and allow his name recognition as former vice president to run his campaign for him.<\/span><\/p>\n
