As the primary election results continue to come in, Republicans appear to have achieved several major successes. Two of the most notable are in State Assembly races, with incumbents Randy Voepel (71st district) and Marie Waldron (75th district) both securing victories and placing themselves in a great position for victory in November.<\/span><\/p>\n

Voepel is a veteran dedicated to serving his district and country. He served as Mayor of Santee from 2000-2016, and has served as representative for the 71st State Assembly District since 2016. Voepel supports lowering taxes, pro-job legislation, cutting red tape for businesses, supporting veterans, and promoting public safety.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marie Waldron is the current Assembly Minority Leader. Prior to her service in the State Assembly, she was a member of the Escondido City Council for 14 years. She supports independent contractors, community mental health services, curbing illegal immigration, and a balanced budget.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of now, Voepel is well ahead of Liz Lavertu with 62% of the vote. Likewise, Waldron currently has 57% of the vote. It\u2019s safe to say that the outlook for these incumbents is bright. However, it\u2019s essential for local Republicans to continue to support their nominees throughout the rest of the year and especially in November.<\/span><\/p>\n
