At a national mayoral forum last week, San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer spoke on strategies related to combatting the homeless crisis in San Diego.<\/span><\/p>\n

After making clear his desire for affordable housing and other programs to help the homeless in his State of the City 2020 address on January 15, he later stated that keeping people off the street is his highest priority in his last term as mayor.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

During the recent conference in D.C., he also spoke on what his office, the City Council, and other San Diego governmental bodies have done to stop the homeless crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since Faulconer took office, homelessness has declined in San Diego by 10 percent and this is due in no small part to the success of his policies. By showing other cities how San Diego is working to end homelessness, it can hopefully help other cities that are also struggling.<\/span><\/p>\n

After discussing homelessness in the capital, Faulconer also hosted a forum on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement and its effects on trade and environmental management.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to this, he has also scheduled a meeting with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to discuss environmental issues along with meeting with Navy officials to expand San Diego’s transportation networks.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even in his final year in office, Mayor Faulconer is still working to improve San Diego. His willingness to address important issues like homelessness at the national level shows his dedication to fixing the crisis locally and abroad, exhibiting the kind of leadership Americans desire.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
