Over the weekend, the <em>U-T<\/em> published an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandiegouniontribune.com\/supesd1\">article<\/a> titled \u201cMeet The Candidates for San Diego County Board of Supervisors District 1.\u201d Seems innocent enough, until further inspection reveals that they\u2019ve selectively omitted the only Republican in the race, Alex Galicia, from their panel and spotlighted the four Democrats running.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/UT2.jpg\" width=\"313\" height=\"389\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <em>U-T<\/em> claims to be adhering to a set of criteria to make the \u201cdifficult decisions\u201d of omitting candidates from their reports, which vaguely include social media presence, fundraising, endorsements, and campaign strategy. Apparently, all four Democrats meet this arbitrary set of requirements, but the only Republican doesn\u2019t.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact that the <em>U-T<\/em> didn\u2019t even make the effort to reach out to the Republican Party\u2019s endorsed candidate speaks volumes about their journalistic integrity\u2014or lack thereof. Regardless of Galicia\u2019s online presence, he\u2014at the very least\u2014deserves an equal chance to be interviewed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Republican Party of San Diego County doesn\u2019t just hand out endorsements to whoever wants them. They endorse serious candidates, and they surely didn\u2019t make a mistake endorsing Galicia for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The fact that news outlets aren\u2019t willing to take conservatives seriously is exactly why the \u201cfake news\u201d narrative is maintaining its relevance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unfortunately, this is only another case of <em>The San Diego Union-Tribune\u2019s<\/em> leftward spiral. From falsely <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2019\/11\/union-tribune-fake-news-designed-to-help-democrats-in-local-elections\/\">accusing<\/a> Republican candidates of lying and <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2019\/08\/san-diego-union-tribune-reports-news-trying-and-failing-to-smear-san-diego-news-desk\/\">smearing<\/a> <em>San Diego News Desk<\/em> to <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2020\/01\/san-diego-union-tribune-runs-fabricated-story-on-border-patrol-detaining-iranian-americans\/\">fabricating <\/a>stories and <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/2020\/01\/san-diego-union-tribune-ignores-severity-of-san-diegos-budget-deficit\/\">misrepresenting<\/a> local economic data, the <em>U-T<\/em> has all but admitted its left-wing bias.
