Mark Powell, T.J. Zane, and Charlene Zettel issue support of Joe Leventhal\u2019s bid for District 5<\/em><\/p>\n

(San Diego, CA) \u2013 San Diego County Board of Education Vice President Mark Powell, Poway Unified School District Trustee T.J. Zane, and University of California Regent and former State Assemblywoman (AD75) Charlene Zettel today endorsed Joe Leventhal for City Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cI applaud Joe\u2019s efforts to bring new solutions to the table when it comes to advocating for San Diego\u2019s next generation. I believe he will be a great asset to our community serving on the City Council,\u201d said Mark Powell.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a father of three, Joe is keenly aware of the everyday challenges San Diego parents and children face. I know that he will promote initiatives that will improve our quality of life on the City Council,\u201d said T.J. Zane.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe will bring bold leadership to the issues that matter to San Diegans most \u2013 reducing our homeless population, keeping our diverse economy strong, repairing crumbling roads and infrastructure, and doing all he can to support our schools. Joe has my complete endorsement,\u201d said Zettel. Regent Zettel first met Leventhal when she was in the California Assembly and Leventhal was advocating for increased funding for the University of California.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to accept the support of these leaders in education. As our campaign picks up momentum, I will continue to advocate for the safety and wellbeing of San Diego’s\u00a0children,\u201d said Leventhal.<\/p>\n

Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he\u2019s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego\u2019s persistent challenges.<\/p>\n

The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Pe\u00f1asquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District\u2019s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.<\/p>\n
