Marine and one time primary opponent, Patrick Batten, endorses Joe Leventhal to succeed Mark Kersey on the San Diego City Council.<\/em><\/p>\n

(San Diego, CA) \u2013 Patrick Batten, Marine Corps reservist and former candidate for District 5, today endorsed Joe Leventhal for City Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe and I share the same priority of making a positive impact on the lives of everyday San Diegans. I trust that Joe will advocate for better streets, support law enforcement officers, and work to tackle problems contributing to homelessness in our City. Joe has also committed to advocating for our military and veteran community in San Diego. Joe has my full endorsement for City Council,\u201d said Patrick Batten.<\/p>\n

Joe has already been endorsed by San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, San Diego City Councilman Mark Kersey, retired San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, homeless advocate Father Joe Carroll, San Diego County Board of Education Vice President Mark Powell, San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego, among others.<\/p>\n

Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he\u2019s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego\u2019s persistent challenges.<\/p>\n

The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Pe\u00f1asquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District\u2019s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.<\/p>\n
