The San Diego State men’s basketball team is now off to a 10-0 start to the season, with their most recent victory coming against San Jose State. The game was a nail-biter, with the Aztecs winning on a game-winning three-pointer by star guard Malachi Flynn. Flynn is the best player on the team so far this season, averaging 16.1 points, 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.4 steals.<\/p>\n

This is the best start the Aztecs have had since 2010, when the team won its first 20 games, finishing 34-3 and reaching the Sweet 16. While this year’s team doesn’t quite have the star power of the 2010 roster\u2014a team led by Kawhi Leonard. The success of Leonard in the NBA is well documented, as he won his second Finals MVP earlier this year in leading the Toronto Raptors over the Golden State Warriors. However, this Aztecs team has a lot of depth and experience, making them a real threat as the season goes on.<\/p>\n

The 25th-ranked<\/a> Aztecs are one of just three undefeated teams in the top 25, with Ohio State and Auburn being the other two. SDSU is the only team in the Mountain West Conference in the top 25, and this is also the first time the Aztecs have been in the top 25 since the 2014-2015 season.<\/p>\n

Few expected SDSU to be so good this early in the season, but if the team can continue playing this well\u2014the sky is the limit. The team is outscoring opponents by 17.7 points per game, indicating just how dominant they have been.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
