Momentum continues to build behind Leventhal\u2019s bid for the open District 5 seat<\/em><\/p>\n

(San Diego, CA) \u2013 The Republican Party of San Diego County last night announced their endorsement of Joe Leventhal for San Diego City Council, District 5 by its elected Central Committee members.<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe has proven himself to be a hardworking, effective candidate,\u201d said Tony Krvaric, Chairman of the Republican Party of San Diego County. \u201cI am confident that he will be an advocate for San Diego\u2019s taxpayers by advancing strong fiscal reform and accountability on the City Council. I urge my fellow Republicans to join me in supporting Joe Leventhal for City Council.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leventhal\u2019s campaign to succeed term-limited Councilman Mark Kersey for the District 5 seat has already gained widespread community support. Leventhal reports a hefty fundraising haul of over $120,000 raised in the first five weeks of his campaign and several key community endorsements that continue to drive the campaign\u2019s momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe endorsement of the Republican Party of San Diego County is an important milestone for our campaign,\u201d said Joe Leventhal. \u201cThis endorsement affirms that our message of common-sense governance is building momentum in all corners of the district.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joe has already been endorsed by San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego County Board of Education Chair Mark Powell, homeless advocate Father Joe Carroll, the San Diego Asian Americans for Equality, retired San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego, among others.<\/p>\n

Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he\u2019s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego\u2019s persistent challenges.<\/p>\n

The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Pe\u00f1asquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District\u2019s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats. Approximately 13% of registered voters in District 5 are Asian Americans.<\/p>\n
