The poll found that 51 percent of voters favored Republican candidates. By contrast, Democrats polled at 31 percent and Independents came in at just three percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When asked who they would vote for today, respondents said:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">31% Campa-Najjar (D)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20% DeMaio (R)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">16% Issa (R)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11% Hunter (R)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4% Jones (R)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2% Harvath (I)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1% Edick Jr (I)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15% Undecided<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Campa-Najjar is leading in the poll by an 11 percent margin, the combined support of Republicans is far higher.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was also reported that a majority of respondents want their congressional representative to support President Donald Trump\u2019s immigration policies, and 61 percent say they\u2019d like their representative to \u201ckeep an open mind and make a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fair determination when it comes to impeachment<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to respondent approval of the various candidates, the results are also in favor of Republicans. Carl DeMario had a +14 approval, with 34 percent having a positive view of him compared to 20 percent with a negative view. For Darell Issa, it was -1 in terms of approval, as 30 percent approved and 31 percent disapproved. Democratic candidate Ammar Campa-Najjar had a -2 approval, with 26 percent having a positive view and 28 percent viewing him negatively.<\/p>\n<p>Remarkably, the\u00a0<em>Times of San Diego\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofsandiego.com\/politics\/2019\/10\/03\/new-poll-shows-campa-najjar-leading-50th-district-congressional-race\/\">attempted<\/a> to frame the poll as being good news for Campa-Najjar, while the Democratic candidate took a similarly distorted perspective.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Early polling has us solidly ahead of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rep_hunter?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Rep_Hunter<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DarrellIssa?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DarrellIssa<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/carldemaio?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@carldemaio<\/a>!
