Homelessness, once barely registered as a political issue, has become a top concern as the 2020 election draws near. Voters are beginning to realize that the direction that our Democratic state legislators are taking California in is causing more problems than solutions\u2014and they\u2019re not happy about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Public Policy Institute of California <\/span>surveyed voters<\/span><\/a> and found that homelessness and the economy were the two most pressing issues to California voters. In past surveys dating back to 1999, homelessness barely made the poll. It hasn\u2019t ever made double digits until now.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sadly, homelessness numbers are only going up. The only large city in which homelessness has gone down in California is San Diego\u2014which happens to have a Republican mayor in Kevin Faulconer. Though Mayor Faulconer understands his constituents and the policies that benefit them, the same can\u2019t be said for the Democratic mayors of cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles, who are willing to sit idly by while the homeless population increases.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the subject of the failures of elected officials, 54 percent of California\u2019s voters believe that the state government is heading in the wrong direction\u2014and this comes as no surprise. The collective trash pile of initiatives generated by Gov. Gavin Newsom and the rest of his Democratic allies has cost our state billions, led to disastrous consequences, and destroyed the faith of voters.<\/span><\/p>\n

The numbers aren\u2019t lying. If Newsom and the Democrats don\u2019t clean up their act in time for the election, they\u2019ll be sacrificing their nice, cushy offices in the Capitol to people who will actually do their jobs. With the state of things now, such a change would be welcome. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
