AB 1086 is yet another broken commitment by the State<\/em><\/p>\n

El Cajon – Senator Brian Jones (R-Santee) today sent the following letter to Governor Gavin Newsom requesting a veto of Assembly Bill 1086, a measure by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda), which would sell-off the “Alameda-Tesla Expansion” area that had been set aside for OHV expansion:<\/p>\n

Dear Governor Newsom:<\/p>\n

I urge your veto of Assembly Bill 1086, a measure by Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan (D-Orinda), that would violate the long-standing practice that lands purchased using money from the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Trust Fund shall remain available for OHV use and not be sold-off.<\/p>\n

Specifically, AB 1086 authorizes the California Department of Parks & Recreation to sell off 3,000 acres of the Carnegie State Vehicular Recreation Area known as the “Alameda-Tesla Expansion” area in Alameda County.<\/p>\n

However, the Alameda-Tesla Expansion area has long been planned, and promised, for a future Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) park expansion.<\/p>\n

This land was purchased using OHV funds back in 1998 yet now the state is attempting to sell the land right out from under Off-Roaders. AB 1086 would be yet another broken commitment from the State of California.<\/p>\n

Again, I urge your veto of AB 1086. Thank you for your consideration.<\/p>\n
