Leventhal continues to break city council fundraising records, builds strong base of in-district support<\/em><\/p>\n

(San Diego, CA) – Local attorney and former Ethics Commissioner, Joe Leventhal, today announced that he raised $100,000 only 22 days after launching his campaign for San Diego City Council, District 5.<\/p>\n

This latest benchmark comes after Leventhal raised over $61,000 in the first 36 hours after announcing his candidacy, setting a record for 36-hour initial fundraising by any city council candidate. Leventhal\u2019s reported $100,000 haul in just 22 days is a record high for candidates running in an open city council seat.<\/p>\n

The $100,000 raised does not include any personal contributions and excludes the $2,000 Leventhal loaned to the campaign to open the account.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very grateful for the community support I\u2019ve received in these first few weeks. This campaign is about bold leadership to address San Diego\u2019s challenges with a common sense approach. I look forward to continuing to share my vision for the future of our city over the coming months of this race,\u201d said Leventhal.<\/p>\n

Joe has already been endorsed by San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond, San Diego County Supervisor Dianne Jacob, San Diego County Board of Education Chair Mark Powell, homeless advocate Father Joe Carroll, retired San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of San Diego, among others.<\/p>\n

Once elected to the San Diego City Council, Joe will prioritize solutions to reduce homelessness, enhance public safety, and expand road repairs. Joe believes that bold, collaborative leadership, as he\u2019s demonstrated throughout his life, is the best way to approach San Diego\u2019s persistent challenges. The 5th District includes the communities of Black Mountain Ranch, Carmel Mountain Ranch, Miramar Ranch North, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Encantada, Rancho Pe\u00f1asquitos, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Miramar Ranch and Torrey Highlands. The District\u2019s registration is nearly evenly split between Republicans, Independents, and Democrats.<\/p>\n
