Michael Brunker, the beloved community leader, is to be honored by the San Diego Rotary as \u201cMr. San Diego\u201d at a luncheon on September 19.<\/span><\/p>\n

San Diego Rotary President David Oates said about Brunker, <\/span>\u201cTo say that Michael is an icon in our city among individuals who embody the Rotary spirit of \u2018Service Above Self\u2019 is an understatement…He is an inspiration to all who know him. We couldn\u2019t be more honored to name her this year\u2019s Mr. San Diego.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is not the first time that he has been recognized for his community service. Brunker also received the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award for serving the Jackie Robinson YMCA in Mountain View as executive director for more than 20 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Brunker is the YMCA of San Diego County\u2019s Vice President for mission advancement. His role is to identify and establish new relationships with people and organizations that further the goals of the YMCA by doubling its impact and increasing participation throughout the County.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reward for Brunker\u2019s decades of service to the people of San Diego, he will be formally recognized as a true pillar of the community.<\/span><\/p>\n
