{"id":10453,"date":"2024-02-26T15:05:36","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T22:05:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/?p=10453"},"modified":"2024-02-26T15:05:36","modified_gmt":"2024-02-26T22:05:36","slug":"icymi-issa-demands-public-disclosure-from-biden-administration-fbi-on-china-spy-balloon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandiegonewsdesk.com\/?p=10453","title":{"rendered":"ICYMI Issa Demands Public Disclosure from Biden Administration, FBI on China Spy Balloon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington \u2013 Last week, Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) demanded answers from FBI Director Christopher Wray on the agency\u2019s knowledge of and\u00a0analysis\u00a0performed on the Chinese spy balloon that traveled more than 4,000 miles across the United States in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Issa\u2019s letter, highlighted in an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/house.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=79f80f32deac84587357d78d9&amp;id=ec33509a8b&amp;e=fc694ebc1d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/house.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D79f80f32deac84587357d78d9%26id%3Dec33509a8b%26e%3Dfc694ebc1d&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1709071512221000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1MTi67zsVrxFc7LaB4nBUH\">exclusive report in the New York Post<\/a>, was sent as a response to the Biden Administration\u2019s refusal to disclose any findings from the Bureau\u2019s examination of the balloon after it was shot down by the U.S. Air Force after\u00a0traveling\u00a0across most of the continental United States.<\/p>\n<p>An excerpt from the letter:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unfortunately, ever since the craft entered U.S. airspace and was then noticed by citizens on the ground, the Biden Administration has sought to obscure what it knew about the spy balloon and when, as well as virtually shield the PRC insofar as possible. President Biden assured the country it was \u201cnot a major breach\u201d while the State Department offered a muted response. This is insufficient to meet our national security interests and the public\u2019s right to know.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The PRC\u2019s infringement of American airspace constitutes a significant violation of American sovereignty and a major intelligence failure. Given the gravity of the incident and the suspect nature of the Administration\u2019s assertions, Congress must be briefed on the FBI and the interagency\u2019s findings without further delay. The District encompasses the central and eastern parts of San Diego County and a portion of Riverside County, including the communities of Fallbrook, Valley Center, Ramona, Escondido, Santee, Lakeside, Poway, Temecula, Murrieta, and the mountain and desert areas of the San Diego-Imperial County line.
