A new LA Times poll shows Newsom\u2019s \u201cstanding among California voters has hit an all-time low.\u201d As he absurdly calls California a \u201cmodel for the nation,\u201d a majority of Californians \u2013 the voters in his own blue state \u2013 are calling him a model of failure.<\/p>\n

Yet Newsom is \u201crunning for president,\u201d as Senator John Fetterman just stated, adding that Newsom just doesn\u2019t have \u201cthe guts to announce it.\u201d As polls show Biden will lose a general election resoundingly, the talk in DC is Newsom will be subbed in at the last moment.<\/p>\n

This comes as Roll Call has published its much-waited\u00a0profile of me<\/span><\/a>. The headline: \u201cGov. Newsom\u2019s biggest critic might be this California Congressman.\u201d The article notes that I love California but \u201crarely pass up the opportunity to express how loathsome\u201d Newsom\u2019s actions are.<\/p>\n

It continues: \u201cKiley sees it as part of his mission to keep the flame alive\u201d against Newsom and \u201cmake the case in Congress that \u2018the brand of politics that has prevailed in the state is not where we want to go as a country.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in a major legislative win, we have denied funding to California\u2019s high-speed rail in the House Transportation Appropriations bill and secured money for roads instead. In a\u00a0Floor Speech today<\/span><\/a>, I called the bullet train the biggest boondoggle in U.S. history.<\/p>\n

And LA Mayor Karen Bass is taking major heat following my letter calling out her Sanctuary City hypocrisy. As\u00a0Red State\u2019s story<\/span><\/a>\u00a0puts it: \u201cRep. Kevin Kiley Rips LA Mayor Bass for Her Request for Federal Assistance to House Illegal Immigrants.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, our opponent Jessica Morse has come out in opposition to my amendment that prohibits toddler mask mandates. While appalling, this is hardly surprising. As Newsom\u2019s \u201cDeputy Secretary,\u201d she was at his side throughout the COVID insanity.<\/p>\n
