(SAN DIEGO \u2014 October 6, 2023)\u00a0Supervisor Anderson is hosting a press conference on\u00a0Tuesday, November 7\u00a0to preview his board action that will be voted upon at that day\u2019s Board of Supervisors meeting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s proposal would create a pilot program<\/a>\u00a0at the County to help qualified veterans and military service members reunite with their families through the Federal government’s Military Parole in Place (MIL-PIP) program. Through the MIL-PIP program, spouses, parents, and children of veterans and active military service members can gain temporary permission to live in the United States while they work towards permanent citizenship.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThis Veterans Day, I wanted to celebrate and thank those who have served, or are serving, by uniting them with their loved ones. These heroes have put their lives on the line for our country and the least we can do is connect them with their families\u2014 who are on a path to citizenship,\u201d shared Supervisor Joel Anderson.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cSan Diego Unified School District serves more than 7,500 students who are in active military families and we appreciate and support Supervisor Anderson\u2019s efforts to provide assistance to the families of our students,\u201d shared Richard Barrera of the San Diego Unified School District Board of Trustees.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
