Newsom\u2019s trip to China has delivered some bizarre scenes. He\u00a0posed awkwardly<\/span><\/a>\u00a0at the Great Wall and shook hands eagerly with a beaming President Xi. Watching\u00a0the clip<\/span><\/a>, you can imagine the communist autocrat saying, \u201cGreat job handling COVID, Mr. Newsom. You made me proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trip has been widely ridiculed. Newsom is now running a full-fledged presidential campaign-in-waiting, no longer even pretending to defer to Biden. And to help clear his path, he\u2019s sent his radical \u201cDeputy Secretary\u201d to run against me.<\/p>\n

By all appearances, our opponent Ms. Morse aspires to join \u201cthe Squad,\u201d whose members (like AOC and Omar) just voted against the Resolution I sponsored supporting Israel and condemning Hamas. Fortunately, it still passed by a vote of 412-10.<\/p>\n

Sadly, it\u2019s not just radical politicians who are expressing loathsome views. It\u2019s happening across college campuses \u2013 with the blessing of faculty. My legislation with Burgess Owens condemning the pro-Hamas and antisemitic activity at universities will be voted on next week.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve also\u00a0asked Merrick Garland<\/span><\/a>\u00a0if he believes parents at school board meetings are more of a threat than Hamas terrorists. He hasn\u2019t issued any directive aimed at Hamas supporters, yet still refuses to rescind his school board memo \u2013 even after\u00a0his humiliation<\/span><\/a>\u00a0at last month\u2019s hearing.<\/p>\n

Finally, we have a Speaker of the House. Mike Johnson is an honorable and talented man who I\u2019ve gotten to know well. You can get a sense of his winning personality from\u00a0this clip<\/span><\/a>\u00a0when he introduced me on the House Floor in January.<\/p>\n

Last year when I was running, Mike called to say he was excited to have a fellow defender of the Constitution in Congress. I then joined his Subcommittee on the \u201cConstitution and Limited Government.\u201d At this moment, having a constitutionalist in the Speaker\u2019s chair is a major asset.<\/p>\n
