WHY: <\/b>In December 2021, SANDAG (San Diego Association of Governments)\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 approved the 2021 Regional Transportation Plan, introducing a contentious Road User Charge, commonly referred to as a mileage tax. Despite public outcry, the plan advanced.<\/p>\n

Last September, SANDAG’s Board of Directors voted to exclude the controversial mileage tax from SANDAG’s Regional Transportation plan. However, SANDAG’s Executive Director proceeded with a plan that retained the Road User Charge.
