We\u2019ve expected that Gavin Newsom would hand-select an opponent to run against us for reelection. What we didn\u2019t know is he\u2019d send his own personal aide parachuting into our district.<\/p>\n

Jessica Morse, a \u201cdeputy secretary\u201d for Newsom who resides in downtown Sacramento, has resigned her position and declared she is now a full-time candidate running against us in the Third District. The tagline of her announcement: \u201cKevin Kiley is a problem.\u201d<\/p>\n

She might as well have added,\u00a0for Newsom<\/em>. As the NRCC notes, Morse is an \u201cextreme liberal\u201d and a \u201cGavin Newsom Lackey.\u201d To get her going, Newsom has set Morse up with Eric Swalwell\u2019s campaign manager.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t usually ask for your support within the body of a blog post, but I have to make an exception today. This is a direct attack not just on me, but on all of us. Given what\u2019s at stake for Newsom, Morse\u2019s campaign will be heavily funded and willing to do or so anything to stop us.<\/p>\n

Today, we can make an overpowering statement that we are ready to fight back. In truth, it is critical that we do so.\u00a0You can help us make the strongest possible statement at this link<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In attacking our record, Morse even had the audacity to say: \u201cI think this community is looking at that and saying, \u2018enough.\u2019\u201d We must show just how wrong that is. We can do so with a record-breaking day of\u00a0citizen support<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Morse rolled out her campaign in an \u201cexclusive\u201d interview with the Sacramento Bee. Her first talking point was to oppose parents rights and rail against our local Rocklin School Board. She then rehashed a litany of the DCCC\u2019s fictional attacks against us from last year.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no coincidence that this comes two weeks after the California Democratic Party \u2013 essentially run by Newsom \u2013 organized 5 \u201cKick Out Kiley\u201d rallies across the district. This is a no-holds-barred assault on everything we have fought for. I am more than ready for the fight.<\/p>\n
